BookAclassic was present at the second edition of the Valletta Concours D’Elegance, held on St. George’s Square in Malta's capital of Valletta. The event saw a range of beautiful classic cars line up around the beautiful square, which is situated in front of the Grandmaster's Palace, the Office of the President of Malta.
A great effort was made to realise an event of international relevance by organiser John Saliba. This hard work brought a range of people and vehicles to Malta including:
A team of independent renowned foreign judges such as Chief Judge Sandra Button, the Chairman of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The unique 1960 Citroen ID Coupé Chapron Le Paris (pictured above), which is owned by Peter & Merle Mullin, the founders of the Mullin Automotive Museum. The car was directly shipped from California and was named Best in Show.
The concours also showcased two Princess Presidential limousines in the Grandmaster’s Palace, and for the first time in forty years, these two were joined by two others initially donated to Malta by the British Government in the sixties. If you like the look of these beautiful cars, we have one available with chauffeur on BookAclassic, perfect for airport transport, events, or sightseeing around the island.
Malta's first registered cars also made an appearance with car registration numbers 1 and 2. The Siddeley and Cadillac from 1904 (both of which are available on BookAclassic) were also exhibited in the Grandmaster’s Palace in the week running up to the event.
Malta has such a rich history with classic cars and they're woven into the island's culture. The Concours was a fantastic showcase of the love for these classic vehicles and the passion the Maltese people have for them. St. George's Square was the perfect setting for these classics as they lined up outside the Grandmaster's Palace.
This is the winner of the pre-war category, a 1929 Ford Model A Type 40B Roadster, owned by James Armeni.
This Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale, owned by John Muscat, placed second in the Elegance category.
