Eight Classic Cars Vie For "Best of the Best" Award
If you didn't get a chance to attend the many high-profile automobile shows around the world last year, Peninsula Hotels has a shortlist of the most exceptional "Best of Show" winners for your review. The list is comprised of eight remarkable classic cars that took home the top honors, and all are finalists for the luxury hotel chain's second annual "Best of the Best" award.
The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award is the brain child of hotelier The Hon. Sir Michael Kadoorie and classic car aficionados Christian Philippsen, William E. Connor, and Bruce Meyer to celebrate the art of fine motor car restoration. The recently created award highlights extraordinary vehicles shown around the world, and each of the finalists have won the Best of Show category in a prominent concourse. This year's lineup of contenders was expanded from six vehicles to eight, and includes a rare 1952 Pegaso Z-102 Berlineta Cúpula and one-of-a-kind 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 SV Coupé by Bertone. In its inaugural year, a 1937 Talbot-Lago T150-C SS owned by Peter and Merle Mullin and The Peter Mullin Automotive Museum Foundation won the Best of the Best award.
A panel of 24 judges from the design and automotive world will determine the winner, which will be announced at a private dinner during the Monterey Car Week.
